The portal had opened again. Okay, the portal had opened for the first time since it had arrived three days ago. Glan had stumbled on the portal the day it had arrived. He was asleep in the clearing when, with a crack, the portal appeared out of thin air. It looked like a silver door, with no handles or knobs. Now, the door was open, exposing a bright, foggy white light. Glan watched as a figure tripped through the white fog and onto the dark grass of his world. He looked at the creature, his deep navy blue eyes filled with confusion. The creature looked like an elf, but with fair, peach skin and rounded ears. Its golden eyes had round pupals. Even its scent was odd.
The unicorn was confused. What was this creature? Padding forward, he sniffed the creature that was curled up into a tight ball. It cowered from him for a moment at the door slammed shut behind it, and then with a loud crack, vanished completely.
Catia had been forced through the door into another relm. It was a test. A test that they would never find the results of. She had snuck in on their experiments, so then told her that they would send her to the relm of the Myths. She was thrust through the fog, and fell into grass. The grass was thick and lush, but it looked different. She became frightened as she looked up to see a mass infront of her. She curled up into a ball as the portal vanished, leaving her here. Tears leaked from her eyes slightly in fright as she cowered below the creature. She could feel its hot breath on her bare arms as it sniffed her. She was afraid to look to see what it was. Lucky for her, it spoke to her first.
''What are you?'' It said in a husky, curious voice. Catia heard it back up. She finally dared to look up.
The creature had a horse shaped body, with talon like feet. Its head was like the mix of a horse head and a dragon's head. Two horse like ears were perked on the top of its head. Ridges ran from the base of its head, down its spine to its rump. It's tail was long and slinder with a tuft of fur at the end. Its body was covered with smooth skin like hide that looked thick and flawless, and was a soft blue-ish grey color. Its eyes were deep navy. On each side of its maw, the tips of two white fangs were visable. What was most surprising was the single black horn that sprouted from the center of its forehead. The horn was stripped with silver flecks, as were its talons.
''I-I-I am a Human...what...what are you?'' Catia asked the creature.
Glan was shocked. A human? A human was a creature of Myths and legends, and were described as being fierce, ugly creatures with large fangs and venom that spilled from its maw. This creature was nothing like what the myths spoke about.
''I am Glan, a Dusk Unicorn,'' Glan replied. Now the human looked shocked.
Shocked was not the best way to discribe what Catia was thinking. She was in pure disbelief. Unicorns were supposed to be pure, beautiful and elegant. This thing looked more like a dragon! Glan was curious by her face.
''What is your calling?'' Glan asked softly as he noted how frightened the Human looked.
''C-catia,'' Catia responded. She slowly stood up and back against a tree. Glan was about to follow the human, but he didn't want to frighten her more.
''Catia? That is a interesting calling,'' Glan spoke softly as he looked her over. What was he to do with a human? Catia was thinking the same thing. what was she going to do?
''I am sorry. Humans are nothing but legends here. And you look much differnt than how the legends tell, so please excuse my stairing,'' Glan lowered his front end into a bow. His bow was so low that his ebony and silver horn stabbed into the thick soil of the ground. Catia watched him. He acted like a unicorn. Maybe it was true. She stepped forward, closing her blind left eye as she approched him. Glan raised his head to look at the human. She was small, the top of her head didn't even reach the top of his withers, not that many two legged creatures reached that high anyways.
''Y-you are a unicorn?'' Catia asked as she looked into the almost dragonic face of the equestrian animal. Glan nodded to her. The ends of his maw curled into a smile as he looked at her. She seemed so innocent, so helpless and weak. He could see fear and curiosity in her right eye, but her left eye showed nothing. Nothing but blankness.
Shes half blind he decided. His smile grew larger as he pushed his nose closer to the human. Catia didn't move back, but she jumped and yelped slightly.
''I won't hurt you, human...Catia,'' Glan said softly. He had been a loner for so long, that this human, so weak, gave him a chance to prove himself to others of his kind and to make a companion.
His words seemed to reassure Catia. Slowly, she raised her hand and allowed him to press his nose into her palm. He was extremly warm, like a fire. His hide was smooth, like plastic or rubber, but with a live feeling to it.
Glan was just as mesmerized by the human's feeling. Her skin was so different feeling, and cool. Her scent was sweet and different, like a rare perfume of the elves or fairies.
Catia began to pet up Glan's face. Tears began to leak from her eyes, and GLan's ears pinned back.
''Human Catia?'' He asked, confused. What had he done? Why was she leaking like a sad elf? Did he harm her? He hoped not!
''I don't know what to do...I am scared....'' She sobbed softly as her arms fell back to her side and she looked down at the ground. Glan blew hot air out of his nose as his nostrils flaired. His horse like lips twitched in uncertainty. What was he to do when a human leaked? He stepped forward and reached up to her with a talon like paw. One of his three front toes reached up and touched Catia's cheek, grabbing a tear and making it fall towards the ground. Catia looked up at the beast. He looked so pure in his eyes. She launched herself at the beast and wrapped her arms around its leathery neck. Glan jumped slightly, then peered down at the human as she sobbed into his neck. Yes. She was helpless.
