Well, I know that it's early, And it's too hard to think, And the broken empty bottles, Are reminder in the sink.
The Velsmar Academy for the Gifted and Talented was an interesting place to be, to say the least. It was a place where people like Amara and Roxine fit in perfectly, however. Well, fairly well, anyways. Even in a place where everyone was weird, Amara and her room mate weren't particularly normal. They kept to themselves, staying close to each other and mostly ignoring their fellow Gifted students. Roxine Valentine, a wolf shifter, had black hair with silver bangs and multi-colored eyes. With one crimson eye and one silver eye, she stood out from the crowd easily. Amara, a fire controller, on the other hand, blended in far better than her friend, with brown hair and green eyes.
When the two had first met, no one would have guessed that they would have become fast friends. The bold, fiery wolf shifter and the shy and sweet pyro hadn't exactly hit it off. Roxy had thought that Amara was the most annoying thing on the face of the planet and Amara had been terrified of Roxy. They became friends over their first year, however, and they'd been roommates ever since. Their bond had only become closer when Lena, a girl from their hallway, had vanished in the night. The vanishing from Velsmar Academy had become steadily more common, but it had never been someone this close to where Amara and Roxy spent the majority of their time. Sure, they'd never known Lena, but she had seemed kind enough, and they'd seen her around with her friends and presumably her boyfriend more than a few times.
She'd been found earlier that day, however. Roxy had awakened Amara with haunted multi-colored eyes to relay the news. Lena was dead. She had been attacked by the Spider Queen, it seemed, and her body had been discovered by two students out for an early morning walk. It had terrified Amara, and even the bold Roxy was a little bit scared by what had happened. They had spent most of the morning together in their dorm room, not really wanting to go outside. Amara, who had always been the timid one, was even more scared at that moment, and Roxy had taken pity on her friend and stayed inside for a bit. Amara had needed a little bit of babying after that discovery.
Still, life went on. Eventually the insistent rumblings of their stomachs had become impossible to ignore and Amara and Roxine had made their way down to the Dining Hall. They'd claimed a table for themselves, and were currently picking absently at their food, hungry but not interested in eating. It was about lunch time, so they had claimed one of the only empty tables and set about eating. A few people had tried to sit with them who needed a spot to sit, but Roxy had shoot them a nasty look and that had been all that it took to get people to scooch away. And thus, Roxy and Amara had one of the few tables that had empty spots in the Dining Hall.
But I thought that I should tell you, If it's not to late to say, I could put back all the pieces, They just might not fit the same way. [/blockquote][/center][/i]

Ceol stood there, in the lobby of their dorms, looking at his companion that was sitting in a chair, clearly deep in thought. They had recieved the news of their friend Lena had been found, but not alive. Perth was silent, not giving any signs to what was going through his mind. Ceol knew that Perth was probably crying inside, but he knew that the double-gifted wouldn't show it.
Ceol had known Perth for about three years now. They had met their first year, and though they clashed slightly, they were immediate companions, though the friend status took a while to form. With them both being upper level double Gifteds, they were quite well known in the school since the double gift was slightly rare. Ceol was a double shifter. His one form, which wass his favorite and more comfortable forms, was his wolf form. His second was a bit more unusual and uncomfortable to him and was that of a creature similar to what could be called a mermaid. Perth was gifted in slightly different way. With a gift called Mind-blade, he was able to slice, chop or cut things with just his mind as long as he could see what it was that he was cutting. His second gift was a little more unusual, and he was able to hear the "voice" of the natural things around him. Wind, earth, Plants, Stars, water and fire all spoke to him. Many thought he was crazy, and that this second gift was just him being insane, but it was in fact his gift.
The truth of the matter was that Perth had known that Lena was dead for two days now. Two days before she was even found. The wind and earth had told him, but he ignored it, hoping that it was a lie. He hadn't told anyone, because truthfully, he was scared. He didn't want to believe any of it. Yet, today rubbed the cold hard truth in his face.
Ceol's bi-blue eyes watched Perth's scruffy face closely, trying to pick up anything that could hint at what he was thinking. Ceol's blonde-streaked grey hair was in a mess and hanging in his face, which kept Perth from knowing that he was watching. Perth finally looked up from his hands, allowing his silver gaze to land on Ceol. "Move your hair or I will cut it off," Perth said as people walked by and looked at him awkwardly. Perth didn't pay them any attention. He didn't care if people though he was gay. He knew he wasn't and he didn't even need a partner. Now Ceol, he was always questioning Ceol's desires, but it didn't bother him. They were about as close as guys could be without being a gay-couple, and that of course raised question. "I don't want to. I look sexy with it in my face," Ceol said, his almost russian accent was a bit light as he tried to cheer up his friend. "One of these days I will beat you senseless," Perth muttered, earning more awkward glances from people wandering by. Yet, Perth only lowered his gaze again.
Ceol watched Perth again, then sighed and stretched. "Have you eaten yet today?" Perth shook his head slightly. "Come on. You need to eat something, Purr," Ceol said as he used his own 'pet name' for his friend. Perth wasn't going to argue today. He was too... He was in too much pain. So he simply stood and followed his slightly shorter friend into the dining hall.
After grabbing a small sandwich each, Perth and Ceol wandered to one of the least filled tables next to the two girls that Ceol kew he had seen before. Perth ignored one of the girl's glares and still just sat down, silent, his eyes still locked low. Ceol was slightly worried, worried that Perth was shutting down. The young man wasn't one to be open anyways, but with the loss of their friend that Perth was so close and open to, Ceol knew that it was possibly the last chance Perth was going to allow.

You've found hope, You've found faith, Found how fast she could take it away.
At the first appearance of the two boys, Roxy's eyes narrowed venomously. This table was taken! Did they not notice that. The girl's mouth was half open about to snap at the two men that had sat down when Amara put a hand on her arm. "They were her friend." The fire manipulator muttered softly, and that was enough to disarm the spitfire of a girl. Still, Roxy huffed slightly as she glanced away from them and nibbled absently on a green bean. She still wasn't hungry, but food was important, wasn't it? The thought made her smile slightly. Her father would have made her eat. He was so protective of his two darling girls. He was rather understandably more protective of Sidra, who was blind in one eye, but he was quite protective of Roxine as well.
While Roxy's thoughts wandered, Amara was gathering her courage for something. At long last, the timid girl glanced at the two boys, blinked nervously, and spoke. "I'm, uh, I'm sorry about..." What was she sorry about? Everything. Nothing. She really didn't know how to put this. "I'm sorry about what happened." Amara spoke nervously. She recognized them - Ceol and Perth. It was hard to forget them. They were two of the most dangerous Gifteds. They had double Gifts, to be exact. Perth could kill her as soon as look at her, and Ceol could probably kick her ass too. So maybe it was understandable that Amara was nervous. But she would've been nervous if it had been someone about as intimidating as her.
Roxine rolled her eyes at Amara, shaking her head fondly as she glanced at the two boys again. She raised an eyebrow at the two, "Are you going to eat anything else?" It was a rare display of concern from this girl, but she felt as much empathy for them as any other, she just didn't know how to say it. She wouldn't apologize, as she had nothing to do with it. She had nothing to be sorry for. So, for a lack of anything else to say, Roxy talked about food. She was of half a mind to push her overloaded plate to their new companions and make them eat. It didn't seem healthy that they were only eating those tiny sandwiches. It wasn't a great way to deal with grief. And it wasn't like anyone else was going to be mothering these two. Everyone else was scared of them.
Amara took another sip of her hot chocolate, her nervous gaze flicking from Ceol to Perth and back again. She wanted to make them feel better. She hated seeing pain. But Amara really didn't know how to make them feel any better. She lowered her gaze to the cup that she held in front of her, afraid of really saying anything else. They were quite intimidating. And Roxy really wasn't helping.
Found true love, Lost your heart. Now you don't know who you are.

Perth's gaze kept low, and his eyes only shot sideways to glance at the girls for a split second. His shaggy blonde hair hung into his face, making his gaze seem more meniceing than he really meant for it to be. Not that it mattered, the deed was long since done.
When the brown haired girl started to speak, Perth's eyes didn't move to her, but Ceol's did. Ceol forced out a charming smile, putting his father's charm to good use to thank the girl without words. He hoped he was as good as his father was at that, but he soon looked back at Perth as the second girl asked about their lunches. "No," Perth snapped with much venom as a slash went across the table and split his plate in half. He stood up and turned away, then started walking without another word to either the girls or his friend.
Ceol sighed heavily and looked at the girls. "Thank you for your concern," He said softly and mildly. His eyes glited with his true appreciation, helping him where his words would not. "It has been rough. Especially for him. But thank you so much for the concern," He smiled slightly as he took a bite of his sandwich, then turned to the girls more. "I don't believe we have met before, officially at least. I am Ceol Rhapsodos," He said kindly as he held his hand out to Roxine first, then to Amara.
Grief was strong in his chest, as was Ceol's, but Perth didn't want to talk about it. It was probably, some how, his fault that she was dead. He could have asked the wind where she was. He could have asked the soil where she was going. But no. He hadn't done anything. He just sat there, waiting. Thinking that everything wwould be alright in the end.

Be careful what you wish for, 'Cause you just might get it all, You just might get it all, And then some you don't want.
Amara smiled nervously back at the guy, but the peaceful moment lasted for only a little bit. It was Perth's venomous words that made Amara squeak slightly, but the slash of his 'mind blade' made her dive behind Roxy, falling out of her chair and hitting the ground with a muffled yelp. She remained on the ground, however, waiting until she saw Perth's feet moving away before Amara even began to relax.
A look of concern appeared on Roxine's features, and she glanced at her friend with a slight frown. "Mar..." She muttered, shaking her head as she shot Perth a nasty look. Roxy doubted that he'd notice that he'd scared Amara (honestly, even she barely noticed when things scared Amara anymore), but it was a matter of principle. Only Roxy was allowed to scare Amara! Not this nasty, foul tempered boy that she'd been trying to be nice to. Already, Roxy didn't like him. She'd make an effort to be kind for as long as she thought that his grieving 'grace' period could last, but once that was over, well, Roxine Valentine was going to be rather pissy.
When Ceol started speaking, Amara finally made an effort to get up, settling herself in her seat and brushing off her pants as if nothing had happened. She glanced up at Ceol when he started talking, blinking curiously. "Aren't you going to go after him?" Amara questioned softly. "No one should be alone after something like that." She added dreamily after a moment, a distant, vague look in her eyes as she looked out the large windows curiously. Maybe there would be something interesting going on outside? But probably not. Amara just felt kind of awkward after that.
Roxine snorted loudly at Amara's words, but otherwise she just shook her head at her friend. "I . . . Well, you're welcome." Roxy said in response, shrugging slightly. "My name's Roxine Valentine, wolf shifter." She smiled slightly, hoping that Ceol wouldn't think that she was too weird. He seemed interesting. Roxy wouldn't mind making a new friend. Well, as long as she could detach him from Perth, anyways. They did seem to be joined at the hip, but Roxy figured she could probably get him away from Perth some. If her first instincts held true and he really was a potentially good friend for her and Amara.
Her instincts were rarely wrong, however. That was the good thing about being a wolf shifter. Smiling slightly, Roxy shook Ceol's hand firmly, laughing softly to herself.
Yelping when Roxy stepped on her foot, Amara returned to the present with a blink. "Oh, uh, my name's Amara Morozov. I'm a pyro." She said with a slight smile. They already knew what Ceol's gift was. That was the thing about being a rarity. People knew stuff about you, and Amara and Roxy were no exceptions. Ceol was a double gifted and they were rare enough that they were often subjects of conversation. It was only absently that Amara shook Ceol's hand, her grip far weaker than Roxy's. She was distracted again, eyeing the retreating form of Perth curiously.
It was on a whim that she got to her feet, wandering away without a word. She chased after Perth with a sandwich that she'd snatched from Roxy's plate before the other girl had had time to react, and though she stopped a fair distance away from the double-gifted, caution evident in the way that she eyed him, she spoke anyways. "You should eat. And, uh, please don't cut me?" Her voice grew steadily more nervous as Amara backed away a few steps, eyeing Perth cautiously, trying to gauge his mood. She wanted to help him. Amara wanted to help everyone. But he was kind of really scary and she wasn't sure if he was worth it.
Roxy's hand flashed out to grab her sandwich back when Amara grabbed it, but she stopped a second later, her multi-colored eyes narrowing. "Amara!" She hissed irritably, rolling her eyes as she turned back to Ceol. "If your friend kills her I'll be rather upset." Though her voice was light, her eyes were narrowed slightly. She was worried about Amara traipsing after Perth, but not worried enough to chase after her friend. Mostly because Amara wasn't her sister and Roxy wasn't about to go throw herself in front of the rough equivalent of a knife that could kill anyone at any time. She, at least, had the presence of mind to avoid the human weapon. Of the two, there was no contest of who was smarter, in Roxy's mind.
Be careful what you wish for, 'Cause you just might get it all, You just might get it all, yeah, You just might get it all.

Ceol smiled and nodded to the girls as they introduced themselves. He was fairly good with names, and he silently put those names into the files of his mind with the pictures of their faces. Now their faces he wouldn't forget. Names always seemed to fade with time. Images of faces never did, though. Just like the scents that reached his nose, the images would always bring back memories.
"It's funny, never had another wolf-shifter actually talk to me and be semi-alright with it," He said with a hum of amusement. The almost-russian roll to his words only added to that humming tone, but also made him smile slightly. He was slightly confused when Amara yelped, and eyed her with slightly worried look on his face. He did enjoy how she called herself a Pyro though. Though, he figured he and Amara would never be close friends. People that were gifted in anything water and anything fire seemed to rarely get along too well. Yet, when Amara touched him as she watched Perth, he frowned and tried to read what was going through her mind. He wasn't that gifted, though, and frowned even more when she got up and went after his companion. He blinked a few times, then looked at Roxy as she spoke about Perth killing Amara.
Of course, Ceol had to smile slightly. He found it funny that Roxy would be worried of such things, but then again, he had to remember that she didn't know the full story of Perth, so he lowered his gaze and inhaled to respond. "I know he seems all bad-ass, which he is a bit of a harsh bad-ass, but he really won't harm anyone unless he needs to. His hands are already stained enough, and he doesn't want to stain them more. Besides, he really does have a soft spot for girls," He laughed heartedly and then sighed in a joyful way.
He let himself fall silent, still grinning as he looked in the direction that Perth had gone. Then something seemed to click in Ceol's mind and he slowly frowned. His frown was only slight at first, but then deepened as he looked back at Roxy. Valentine? Ceol thought about it for a few moments. He knew that there was a Valentine family that was, in a way, related to his own. He thought about that relation for a moment. His family, which was the Rhapsodos family... His father was raised by an adoptee woman that raised a Rhapsodos son and Metlam daughter... The web of connections seemed to draw themselves in Ceol's mind as he thought about it. Metlam joined the Valentine...or was it Valentino... Family. So, his father's foster sister (his foster aunt) was a Valentine.
Ceol snorted. There was no way that this girl was related to those Valentine's that was distantly related to his father. Yet, he had to ask. He was too curious. "You don't happen to know of the Metlam family, do you?" He asked as he leaned on his elbows and put his head in his hands.
Perth had wandered into the lobby just outside of the dining hall, and flopped into a chair. He was oblivious to the footsteps that approched him as he flopped his head back and looked up at the celing. Then he heard her voice and lifted his head to look at her. He didn't say anything at first, and looked from her, to the food that she carried, then back at her. He had to admit, as much as he didn't want to, she was awfully cute and weak looking and acting. Damn soft spots. He snorted and put his head back again and sighed. "No thank you," He muttered softly in his coldest voice he could muster. He didn't want to eat. He felt like it would make him sick, then again, he already felt sick from the grief that poisoned his body already. Yet, in the back of his mind, he knew he should humor the girl. He could tell, from looking into her dark eyes, that she really did mean only the best. Besides, she was too...timid... acting to mean anything but the best. Not that Perth was the best at reading people, but he was decent at it. He had learned to read people back when he lived with his father and step mother.

There's a life inside of me, That I can feel again, It's the only thing that takes me, Where I've never been.
Roxine had to grin at Ceol. "I don't believe that I've ever had a conversation with a fellow wolf shifter. So I know what you mean." She laughed slightly, stretching her arms lazily and tugging absently at the leather glove that adorned one hand. Her father and his tarnished gauntlet had been the inspiration of that: Roxy had always wanted to be like her father. But Vincent Valentine was a tough act to follow. He wasn't exactly easy to imitate. Anyways, there was no question of the fact that Roxy was more like her mother than silent figure that was her father. It was hard to emulate Vincent Valentine, but Roxy had never been one to back down from a challenge. So she wore the leather glove that stretched to her elbow and was reminiscent of the golden gauntlet that he wore.
Raising an eyebrow, Roxy's eyes flashed over to Amara, but when she noticed that her friend was in one piece, the wolf shifter shrugged slightly. "Well, she seems okay..." Roxine shrugged, leaning back in her chair and stretching lazily. " And you seem okay. So I guess I'll trust your judgement." The shapeshifter laughed to herself, a genuine smile appearing on her features for the first time since the two boys had felt the need to sit with her.
The Metlam family? Roxine chuckled slightly before answering, looking amused by something that she didn't care to disclose to Ceol. "My mother's name is Alicia Metlam. Well, it was. Why do you ask?" She was curious to know why he knew the name of her mother? Well, her mother's maiden name, the name that she had lived with before she had married Vincent Valentine, but still. It was a curious coincidence that he knew Alicia's last name and Roxine didn't believe in coincidences.
Amara looked a little bit nervous when Perth looked at her, shifting her weight and glancing at her feet. She was trying not to look too nervous (could he tell when people were scared? Did he capitalize on weakness like weapons were supposed to? And since he was a human weapon, how much worse was he than the average weapon?). It was kind of nervewracking to just sit here and spazz about things like that. So Amara sighed, and glanced up from the ground with a hint of curiosity to her gaze.
Biting her lip nervously, Amara edged a few steps closer. "Um. You really should eat?" She extended her hand carefully with the sandwich as a peace offering of sorts. "I'm sorry." She muttered, scuffing the ground with her toe. She wasn't sure what else to say. It was little comfort during a time like that, Amara knew, but there wasn't anything else to say. She couldn't do anything but sit there pitifully and hope that he actually accepted the food. He did need to eat and Amara was worried about him. He was scary. But everyone deserved to have someone offer gentle-ness to them during a time of pain. If that made sense to anyone but her.
Which, judging from the fact that Roxy seemed to still be pissy about Perth, it didn't. Huh. Oh well. He still deserved for someone to be nice to him. Everyone else was scared of him, and Amara was no exception. But she was rather worried about him.
I don't care if I lost everything that I have known, It don't matter where I lay my head tonight, Your arms feel like home, Feel like home.

Ceol smiled back at Roxy, happy to know that he wasn't the only one left out of the wolf-shifters "pack" so to say. He didn't typically worry about those type of things, but there was always small, occasional moments when it would cross his mind and make hims slightly depressed. So the fact that someone else had the same problem only made him feel less like an outsider and a bit more normal. Sure, he knew that he was far from normal, even in gifted standards, but everyone needed to feel normal every once in a while.
To add to his "normal" feel, she proceeded to say he was alright, and that, of course, made him smile more. "Wow, you're making me feel more normal than I really am,'' He said with a chuckle. He leaned back slightly, then back onto his elbows, interested in the young lady that sat across from him. As she answered his question, though, he sat up and slightly frowned. He proceeded to stay quiet for a moment, then snorted. "Small world. My father is Genesis Rhapsodos. Fostered by the same woman that raised the Metlam. Granted, if I remember correctly, my father is older than Metlam," He smiled and leaned on his elbows again. "And you, M'dear, have just gotten about three hundred times more interesting, which I thought was impossible already!"
Perth snorted at Amara again. Why was she being so persistant? Didn't she understand what No meant? Apparently not. Yet, he was being unusually patient and only shook his head. "I am fine, what-ever-your-name-is," He huffed out. There was not much inflection to his words, just the simple huffing of air to show that there was really no way he was going to cooperate with her. Not that that was anything to be surprised about. He didn't cooperate with anything or anyone. If he was feeling nice, he would just be slightly difficult, but in the type of mood he was in now, there wasn't a way that would be happening either. "Just sit your pretty little ass down, and quit wasting your breath and energy," He said smoothly and in a cool tone. His silver gaze almost glared at her for a moment, though it really was just his normal glance. He didn't know quite what to think, to be honest. This was something he really wasn't used to, on any level. Was she really that insane? Or just... He didn't know. He couldn't even think of an explination as to why someone would bless him with their kindness, especially when they were so innocent. Now Ceol was a bit of a different story, but Perth wasn't going to get into the details now. His mind was too preoccupied.
